Shouts to our London fam for showing utmost support at last night’s “Credit to the Edit: Native Instruments x Boiler Room Session”!

Appropriately held at the Institute for Contemporary Arts (ICA), right in the heart of London, our very own Sarah Farina held her ground within the pillars of tomorrow’s modern cultural evolution. Effortlessly transcending riddims from all corners of the globe, travelling through musical genres - Dub, Breaks, Beats etc. - layering sequences and constructing narratives using NI Stems.

A panel of visionaries joined the conversation of remixing and editing music through component sampling, illuminating the promising path of new creative digital techniques for performance, production and modular experimentation.

More than just a DJ/music journalist, dance music culture has an important contributing voice of tomorrow that is Greg Wilson. Relaying the concept of Stems through the operative generation of gamers or more precisely, the “Rock Band” gaming evolution and how it’s already encouraging the youth to create music with similar digital models. It’s good to have a balance of both worlds, that’s what progression looks like, whether in technology, discernment or idealism - watch his previous discussion on the instruments of sound alongside Hatcha, Clams Casino, Hermanos Pizarro and longstanding music journalist Joe Muggs (writer for the likes of Mixmag/The Wire/FACT/Guardian/Boiler Room etc.)

House music pioneer and early influencer to the organic dance music groove which became the evolution of Body & Soul, Francois K, compared his experience of using Stems to analog sampling in Dub music culture like tape recording, early machine output and other cut & paste methods for layering and bolstering sound.

He then brought us on a journey from Balearic/Hacienda sounds, pinched with native New York “Deep Space” House and ending the evening with big-room Techno.

Nothing like a Sunday dance and boogie with friends and family from across the globe to complete the week. Here’re a few photos of the night, if you also have some thoughts/photos of the night - tag/share/get in touch with us!

Watch the night currently on loop here @ Boiler Room Tv.

One Love
TMS
